openmind ☃   February 02, 2009  ☃  LaTeX For Lawyers: Numbered Paragraphs  (, )

The legal profession generally deals in Word .doc files. However, my legal writing prof this semester has given us the OK to turn in .pdfs. You know what that means: LaTeX to the rescue!

Rule 10(b) of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure states that:

A party must state its claims or defenses in numbered paragraphs . . .

LaTeX does not support numbered paragraphs natively, but there are a couple of options that turn up on Google. I used this one, and I’m pretty satisfied with it.

Once I get my nanoc LaTeX filter up and running I’ll post an example of what it looks like here.
